KENNEDALE — The Brownwood Lady Lions needed a penalty kick shootout, but still came away with a 5-4 victory over Kennedale Tuesday night.

Knotted at 1 at the end of regulation, Kennedale made its first attempt, missed the second, converted the third and fourth and Channing Barron came away with a save on the final attempt.

Brownwood’s Carly Person, Taylar Kinzler, Miranda Guerrero and Maddy Garza each drilled their penalty kicks to push the Lady Lions to victory.

The Lady Lions’ goal in regulation was scored by Davalynn Monroe with an assist from Aleyia Cotton.

Barron finished with five saves.

The Lady Lions (2-2-1) will next host Midland Lee at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Gordon Wood Stadium in the first half of a doubleheader with the Lions.

KENNEDALE — The Brownwood Lions opened their soccer season with a 7-0 loss at Kennedale Tuesday.

Tanner Roberts tallied eight saves in goals for the Lions (0-1), who will return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Gordon Wood Stadium against Midland Lee.
