EARLY — The Early Lady Horns earned consecutive District 6-3A victories for the first time this season Tuesday night, following up Friday’s 35-28 road win over Bangs with a 47-45 overtime home triumph over Dublin.
Early (9-21, 4-8) moved into a tie for fifth place in the district standings with the victory as Kacee Gober converted two free throws with one second left in regulation to force the extra session.
Ellie Ryan led the Lady Horns with 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists; Taylor Summers tallied 11 points and three steals; Gober finished with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks; Emily Jillson contributed five points and seven boards; and Vance Cady Gordon chipped in three points, three assists and five steals.
Dublin 88, Longhorns 62
EARLY — The Early Longhorns slipped into a fourth-place tie with Comanche in the District 6-3A boys basketball standings following Tuesday night’s 88-62 home loss to second-place Dublin.
Early (15-11, 5-5) received 15 points from Ty Schafer, 11 from Timmy Smithson, nine each from Kiah Laborn and John Griffin, eight from Ethan Mitchell, six from Nathan Mitchell, three from Jake Angerstein, and two points apiece from Brent Grooms and Carlos Moreno.
Hamilton 37, Lady Dragons 25
BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons slipped into a fifth-place tie in the District 6-3A girls basketball standings with Tuesday night’s 37-25 home loss to Hamilton.
Bangs (9-21, 4-8) trailed 18-9 at halftime and was down by six points with 1:15 left, but began fouling and Hamilton was successful from the charity stripe down the stretch.
Kyra Smith scored a team-best seven points for Bangs followed by Kayleah Hall with six.
