BANGS — The Early Longhorns captured the varsity boys team championship at the Bangs Dragons Relays Friday, amassing 253 points — 144 more than the nearest competition.

The Lady Horns, meanwhile, finished fourth as a team, generating 38 points.

The Longhorns captured 23 medals — nine gold, nine silver, and five bronze.

Winning their respective events were Timmy Smithson in the triple jump and 300-meter hurdles; Carlos Moreno in the high jump; Nathan Mitchell in the long jump; Jeramiah Fowler in the 3200 meters; David Shields in the 110-meter hurdles; Stephen Holt in the 100 meters; Austin Reveile in the 400 meters; and the 4x400 relay team of Moreno, Shields, Brent Grooms and Reveile.

Coming in second were Grooms in both the high jump and 400 meters; Fowler in both the 1600 meters and 800 meters; Adrian Elizondo in the shot put; Tre Beam in the discus; Vic Cooper in the triple jump; Alex Jacobs in the 100 meters; and the 4x100 relay team of Jacobs, Smithson, Beam and Ryan Trompler.

Placing third were Moreno in the 400 meters; Cooper in the 110-meter hurdles; Trompler in the 100 meters; Johnny Clubb in the 200 meters; and the 4x200 relay team of Ryan Hicks, Kiah Laborn, Clubb and Beam.

Finishing fourth were Trompler in the 200 meters; Ethan Mitchell in both the high jump and triple jump; and Riley Hill in the long jump.

Fifth-place efforts belonged to Diego Crader in the shot put; Sebastian Perez in the discus; Darryn Peters in the 3200 meters; and Adan Aleman in the 200 meters.

Perez also turned in a sixth-place performance in the shot put.

For the Lady Horns, sliver medals were earned by Ellie Ryan in both the shot put and discus.

Bronze medals went to Haley Spieckerman in the 100 meters and Emily Jillson in the 200 meters.

Placing fourth were Spieckerman in the long jump and Jillson in the triple jump.

The Longhorns and Lady Horns will be back in action Thursday, March 21 as they host the annual Longhorn Relays.
