ABILENE — Coming off two home victories on opening day against Clyde and Breckenridge, the Brownwood Lady Lions posted a 1-3 mark Friday at the Abilene Bev Ball Classic.
Brownwood (3-3) picked up a straight-set victory over Class 2A Hawley, while falling in straight sets to 5A programs Boerne Champion and Lake Dallas, along with 3A Brock.
In their second match of the day, the Lady Lions notched a 25-20, 25-18 victory over Hawley.
Olivia Fowler led Brownwood with eight kills trailed by Lindsey Larose with four, Kylie Morris and Jaylen Savage with three apiece and Aleyia Cotton and Katelyn Windham with one each.
Kylie Wooten dished out 14 assists while Hadley Monroe chipped in five.
Behind the service line, Fowler delivered four aces trailed by Morris, Wooten, Savage and Monroe with one apiece.
Defensively, Caitlyn Moody's 20 digs were a team-best followed by seven from Fowler, three from Becca Church, two each from Morris, Wooten and Monroe and one by Windham.
Savage tallied three blocks while Fowler, Windham and Larose each added one.
Brownwood's first win of the tournament was followed by a 25-18, 25-15 setback at the hands of Boerne Champion.
Fowler tallied seven more kills followed by Tessa Goodwin with five, Morris and Cotton with three each and Savage with one.
Wooten distributed nine assists, Monroe contributed seven, and Moody was credited with two.
Fowler served Brownwood's lone ace.
Moody recorded 20 more digs on the defensive end, trailed by 12 from Fowler, three each from Wooten and Monroe, two each by Morris and Goodwin and one by Church.
At the net, Cotton and Savage each notched a block.
In Friday's 25-20, 25-18 loss against Lake Dallas, Fowler again led the attack with six kills followed by three from Morris, two each from Cotton, Windham and Larose and one by Wooten.
Wooten also contributed nine assists and served a team-best aces, while Monroe chipped in five assists. Moody added Brownwood's other ace and recorded a team-high nine digs.
Also recording digs for the Lady Lions were Fowler, Morris and Wooten with five apiece, Monroe and Church with three each and Savage with one.
Savage and Cotton finished with one block each.
The Lady Lions began Bev Ball Classic action with a 25-16, 25-14 loss to Brock. Statistical information on that contest was unavailable.
Brownwood resumes tournament action at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Abilene Cooper High School against a yet to be determined foe.
