The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions opened the home portion of their team tennis schedule in much the same fashion as their previous eight outings, all on the road – with a resounding victory.
Brownwood improved to 8-1 on the season by throttling Class 6A Killeen High, 16-3, in Tuesday morning action at the BHS Courts.
“The first home match of the season went well,” said Brownwood tennis second-year head coach Crystal Bundick. “We got a few of the bottom half of the varsity in the lineup and they performed well. We had wins by the No. 5 and No. 6 girls who are both freshmen.”
Eight victories were earned by the Lady Lions, the Lions chipped in seven and Brownwood also came out on top in mixed doubles as Alex Smith and Hannah Netherland won by default.
For the Lady Lions, doubles wins belonged to No. 1 duo McKinzie Adkins and Cameron Hall (6-2, 6-4 over Habhab and Cannon), No. 2 tandem Victoria Ramos and Kaylee Renfroe (6-1, 6-0 over Dunbar and Kamper) and No. 3 team Aaliyah Uvalle and Lillian Jonescue (6-0, 6-1 over Silva and Thomas).
Chalking up singles wins for the girls were No. 2 Ramos (8-0 over Cannon), No. 3 Hall (8-1 over Dunbar), No. 4 Lenzi Deluna (6-4, 7-5 over Kamper), No. 5 Trinity Sessoms (6-3, 6-1 over Silva) and No. 6 Aishwarya Nigale (6-0, 6-1 over Thomas).
