COLEMAN — Following four victories in six matches at the Nita Vannoy Memorial Tournament in San Angelo over the weekend, the Brownwood Lady Lions added another win to their tally with a straight-set triumph over Class 3A Coleman here Tuesday night.

The Lady Lions cruised to a 25-17, 25-6, 25-12 victory as their overall record improved to 9-7.

“The girls did great on staying up and getting the job done,” said Lady Lions first-year head coach Allison Smith. “We have more tweaking to do on getting everything flowing even when we get caught out of system. Caitlyn Moody played great defense throughout the game and we had multiple girls step up at times we needed.”

On the offensive end, Jaylen Savage recorded a team-best six kills followed by four each from Tessa Goodwin and Olivia Fowler, two apiece by Aleyia Cotton and Katelyn Windham, and one each by Becca Church and Ashlyn Storm.

Hadley Monroe dished out nine assists, Kylie Wooten contributed eight and Moody chipped in one.

Fowler, Wooten and Monroe led Brownwood's string of 16 aces with four apiece, while Moody and Windham tallied two each.

Defensively, Moody's 16 digs led the squad trailed by seven from Monroe, six from Church, four each from Fowler and Savage, two from Goodwin and one from Cotton.

At the net, Savage recorded the lone block.

Brownwood has the weekend off and will return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Abilene High.
