ABILENE — The Brownwood Lady Lions' recent run of matches against larger schools continued Tuesday night, but without the same promising results as their two most recent outings. After defeating Class 6A Abilene High in five sets, and being edged at home by 6A San Angelo Central in five, the Lady Lions dropped a 25-21, 25-21, 25-12 decision at 5A Abilene Cooper.
Olivia Fowler tallied 11 kills to pace the Brownwood offense followed by five from Katelyn Windham, four from Jaylen Savage, three each from Kylie Morris and Aleyia Cotton and one from Ashlyn Storm.
Kylie Wooten dished out 13 assists while 11 belonged to Hadley Monroe and Caitlyn Moody contributed three.
Behind the service line, Wooten delivered three aces while Monroe collected one.
On the defensive end, Moody's 22 digs were a team-best trailed by 10 from Fowler, seven from Morris, six from Wooten, four from Monroe, two from Windham and one apiece from Cotton, Savage and Storm.
At the net, Savage played a role in three blocks, Fowler had a hand in two and Windham was credited with one.
The Lady Lions (10-9) will host Class 5A Abilene Wylie at 5 p.m. Friday, which begins a lengthy home stand heading into the District 7-4A opener Sept. 27 against Glen Rose at Warren Gym.
