SHERMAN — In their final action before the start of the American Southwest Conference schedule, the Howard Payne Lady Jackets suffered a pair of losses to Paul Quinn and Austin College Saturday.
The Lady Jackets began the day with a 27-25, 25-18, 25-16 loss to Paul Quinn.
Mya Ross tallied 10 kills trailed by six from Canyon Hughes, five each from Teresa Hopkins and Shaylyn Wise, four by Amaya Marshall, two apiece by Mituse Rodriguez and Felicity Rodriguez and one each by Ciara Chappell and Hannah Rule.
Logan Boyd distributed 15 assists followed by Kaitlyn Elsten with eight, Kennedy Sam with five, Kylee Shirley with a pair and Ross, Hughes and Hopkins with one apiece.
Christian Wilson served two aces while Elsten and Felicity Rodriguez notched one each.
Defensively, Shirley's 15 digs led the way followed by Boyd with seven, Elsten and Ross with five each, Elsten with four, Sam with three, Hopkins and Wise with two each, and Hughes, Marshall and Rule with one apiece.
Later in the day, Howard Payne was upended by Austin College, 25-12, 25-13, 25-14.
Hopkins recorded six kills trailed by four each from Ross and Wise, two from Chappell and one by Marshall.
Boyd logged eight assists followed by three each from Sam and Elizabeth Benn and one apiece from Ross and Marshall.
Hughes and Aviyon Wilborn both served aces.
On the defensive end, Benn compiled 13 digs followed by 10 from Sam, eight from Wilborn, six from Ross, five from Hopkins, four from Boyd, two each from Wise and Rule and one by Chappell.
Ross finished with two blocks while Hopkins, Chappell and Taylor Penn had a hand in one each.
The Lady Jackets (1-5) open American Southwest Conference action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they host Mary Hardin-Baylor.
