EARLY — The seven-match win streak for the Early Lady Horns reached its conclusion Saturday, as Water Valley chalked up a 25-22, 25-23, 25-17 road victory.
“This was a big one that got away,” said Early head coach Natalie Whitewood.
The Lady Horns led 22-15 in the first set and 22-19 in the second, but Water Valley was able to rally in both.
Trinity Tomlinson paced the Early attack with 12 kills followed by three from Taylor Summers, two from Alexa Portillo and one apiece by Carrigan Norris, Vance-Cady Gordon, Savannah Holt and Gwen Phillips.
Gordon dished out 13 assists while Summers was credited with one.
Defensively, Gordon's 18 digs were a team-best trailed by 14 from Summers, 13 from Haley Spieckerman, 10 each from Tomlinson and Portillo, five from Khyla Bell, four from Norris and one from Phillips.
At the net, Tomlinson, Summers and Portillo each tallied one block.
Early (14-9) visits Coleman at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
