GRAHAM – The Brownwood Freshman Maroon Lions improved to 3-0 on the season with a 28-0 victory over Graham here Thursday night.
After a scoreless first period, the Lions rang up three touchdowns in the second quarter to build a 21-0 halftime advantage. Dryden Anderson scored on a 21-yard run, Konlyn Anderson scampered into the end zone from 43 yards out and Taylor Bessent's interception in the final two minutes set up a 16-yard scoring toss from Chance Jones to Jordan Leach on the last play of the second period. Jakson Yoder converted PATs after all three touchdowns.
The Lions tacked on their final touchdown in the fourth period as Anderson scored on a 28-yard carry, and Yoder booted another extra point.
Defensive standouts included Bessent (FF, INT, 2 tackles), Seth Crawford (3 tackles, TFL), Preston Buffington (4 tackles), and Anderson (3 tackles, 2 TFL).
Llano 14, Freshman White Lions 6
In their first outing of the year, the Brownwood Freshman White Lions came up on the short end a 14-6 decision against Llano Thursday.
Brownwood's lone touchdown was a 16-yard run by Tyse Savage in the fourth period.
Defensive standouts included Keaton Reeves (7 tackles), Azariah Dillard (6 tackles), Brandon Holland (5 tackles), Michael Rodriguez (2 tackles, 1 sack), Jameson Villalpando (2 tackles, 1 TFL).
Graham 50, JV Lions 0
GRAHAM — The Brownwood JV Lions slipped to 1-2 on the season with a 50-0 loss to Graham. The Steers jumped ahead early and the Lions were never able to gain any momentum on either side of the ball. Quentin Thompson played well at both defensive back and slot receiver for the Lions, and William O'Dell played well on the defensive line.
