Playing their first match in 10 days, the Brownwood High tennis team chalked up its second District 7-4A victory in three outings, rolling past Mineral Wells, 19-0, Wednesday at the BHS courts.

“At this point in the season we are playing well and that match was a good warm up for this weekend's match-ups against Snyder and Gatesville,” said Brownwood tennis head coach Crystal Blazek, whose team improved to 12-2 overall.

In girls doubles action, wins belonged to No. 1 Mckinzie Adkins and Cameron Hall (6-2, 6-1 over Sasha Kirsch and Regan Carter), No. 2 Victoria Ramos and Kaylee Renfroe (6-0, 6-1 over Emily Myrick and Mackenzie Lawhon) and No. 3 Aaliyah Uvalle and Lillian Jonescue (6-1, 6-1 over Cassidy Davila and Karime Betancourt).

In boys doubles action, victories were claimed by No. 1 Mo Goff and Matthew Bundick (6-0, 6-0 over Trevor Whitford and Ricky Alexander), No. 2 James Bautista and Oscar Ledezma (6-2, 6-1 over Landon Houston and Tashawn McKinney) and the No. 3 Peter Le and Marcos Lombrano (6-1, 6-2 over Joseph Ramirez and Hunter Price).

Lady Lions tallying singles wins were No. 1 Adkins (6-2, 6-1 over Kirsch), No. 2 Renfroe (6-2, 6-4 over Myrick), No. 3 Jonescue (6-1, 6-0 over Lawhon), No. 4 Ramos (8-2 over Carter), No. 5 Uvalle (6-1, 6-2 over Chloe Baker) and No. 6 Hall (8-1 over Betancourt).

Lions with singles triumphs included No. 1 Goff (6-1, 6-1 over Whitford), No. 2 Bundick (6-0, 6-0 over Alexander), No. 3 Ledezma (8-2 over Houston), No. 4 Colton Varner (8-2 over McKinney), No. 5 Peyton Jeffcoats (6-1, 6-0 over Price) and No. 6 Alex Smith (6-0, 6-0 over Ramirez).

Brownwood also won the mixed doubles match by default, with Smith and Lenzi Deluna notching the victory.

The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action Saturday with a pair of non-district home matches. Brownwood will face Snyder at 9 a.m. and Gatesville at 1:30 p.m. District 7-4A action resumes at 4 p.m. Monday as the Lions and Lady Lions square off with Godley in Glen Rose.
