The Brownwood Freshman Maroon Lions continued their winning ways Thursday, rolling to a 35-14 victory over Gatesville.

The Lions raced out to a 14-0 advantage by the end of the first period as Case Markham hurled a 37-yard touchdown pass to Jason Jackson, while Konlyn Anderson galloped 80 yards for a score. Noah Barron added the extra points after both touchdowns, as well as the Lions ensuing three trips to the end zone.

Leading 14-7 at halftime, the Lions extended their cushion to 21-7 on a 3-yard scoring run by Dryden Anderson, but Gatesville closed the gap to 21-14 by the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth period, the Lions put the game out of reach with a 10-yard scoring toss from Markham to Jackson and a 53-yard sprint by Dryden Anderson.

Defensive standouts included Zaiden Lopez (9 tackles, quarterback pressure), Preston Buffington (2 sacks), Noah Barron (8 tackles, forced fumble), and Dryden Anderson (6 tackles).

 

JV Lions 54, Junction 0

 

The Brownwood JV Lions cruised to a 54-0 victory over the Junction JV Thursday night.

Quarterback Baylor Tidwell threw five touchdown passes to five different Lion receivers.

Defensively, the Lions played a complete game only giving up one first down on the night.

Jayce Day played well for the Lions on both the offensive and defensive line, registering multiple pancakes and tackles for loss.

 

Hamlin JV 42, Freshman White Lions 6

 

The Brownwood Freshman White Lions came up on the short end of a 42-6 decision against the Hamlin JV Thursday night. No additional information was available.
