Six members of the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets football were honored this past week by the American Southwest Conference for their performances on the field.
Earning first-team accolades was senior slot receiver DunTayviun Gross, while second-team choices were senior center Robert Evans, junior defensive lineman Brady Wade and senior linebacker Austin Killgore. Senior H-back Eric Haverstock was honorable mention at tight end, while senior linebacker was named to the outstanding sportsman team.
Gross led the American Southwest Conference in receptions per game (5.4) and total receptions (54). He was also second in the league in kick return average (19.4) and third in all-purpose yards (112.8 per game).
Evans anchored an HPU offensive line that was second in the ASC in the least amount of sacks allowed.
Wade ranked second in the league in forced fumbles with three and among the leaders in fumble recoveries with two. He also blocked four kicks on the year.
Killgore finished second in the conference in total tackles with 85 and third in tackles per game (8.5).
Haverstock tallied 14 catches for 121 yards with one touchdown, averaging 8.9 yards per catch.
