ODESSA – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets snapped a two-game skid and evened their overall record at 2-2 with a 75-63 road victory over NCAA Division II UT-Permian Basin Tuesday night.

The Lady Jackets jumped out to a 21-15 lead after one quarter which grew to 36-26 by halftime and 59-42 through three periods.

Howard Payne sank 46 percent (25 of 54) of its field goals including 54 percent (13 of 24) of its three-pointers, while also converting 80 percent (12 of 15) of its free throws. The Lady Jackets' stellar shooting allowed HPU to overcome a 44-36 disadvantage in rebounds, along with 25 turnovers.

UTPB (3-4) was limited to 30 percent (21 of 70) shooting from the floor, including 17 percent (4 of 24) from beyond the three-point arc, and and committed 24 turnovers. UTPB did known down 81 percent (17 of 21) of its free throws to keep the game close.

Leading the charge for the Lady Jackets was Chelsey Harris with 22 points, including four three-pointers; Lily Janek with 13 points and three treys; Brownwood's own Mallory Garcia with her first double-digit effort of 11 points behind a trio of three-pointers; Anastasia Willis and Salina Ali with nine points apiece; Julissa Ibarra with four; Catlyn Ward with three; and Delaney Ingram and Bria Neal with two points each.

UTPB received 16 points from Lemia Ntor-Ue, 13 from Holly Hemmeline, and 11 points from Rory Carter.

The Lady Jackets are back in action Saturday and Sunday in Alpine for the ASC-SCAC Challenge. HPU will face Schreiner at 3 p.m. Saturday and St. Thomas (Houston) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
