TUSCOLA — The Brownwood Lady Lions, ranked No. 22 in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches this week, slipped back under the .500 mark for the season with a 47-30 road loss at 3A No. 3 Jim Ned Tuesday night.
Brownwood (5-6) trailed Jim Ned (8-1) by a 10-6 count after one quarter, 21-14 at halftime and 41-20 through three periods.
Matyha Thompson led Brownwood with 19 points trailed by six from McKenzie Welker, three from Alexa Arreola and two points from Jaylen Savage.
The Lady Lions shot 33 percent (12 of 36) from the floor, 23 percent (4 of 17) from three-point land, and 40 percent (2 of 5) at the free throw line. Brownwood also committed 17 turnovers, tallied 14 rebounds and recorded six steals.
The Lady Lions are back in action Thursday through Saturday at the Lorena tournament.
