ROCHELLE — The Early Lady Horns won the silver bracket championship at the Rochelle tournament over the weekend.
Early defeated Throckmorton (40-33) in the final, and also picked up wins over Mullin (82-15) and Junction (46-19). The Lady Horns dropped games to Rochelle (50-35) and the San Angelo Central JV (56-44).
Taylor Summers was named all-tournament after tallying 46 points in three games. Other standouts for the Lady Horns included Carrigan Norris and Alexa Portillo with 54 points apiece in the tournament; Vance-Cady Gordon with 28 points; Caroline Welker with 20 points; Reagan Kirby and Savannah Holt both with 18 points; and Grace LaRue with 13 points.
The Lady Horns (7-3) will visit San Angelo Lake View at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.
In other weekend basketball action,
• The Early Longhorns defeated Fort Worth Lake Country Christian (70-44) while falling to Joshua (70-63), Fort Worth All Saints (62-42) and Pampa (66-41) at the Brock tournament. The Longhorns visit Albany at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
• The May Tigers won the Gorman tournament, as Rory Bustamante and Chris Flenniken were selected to the all-tournament team. The Tigers host Ranger at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
• The May Lady Tigers finished fourth at the Gorman tournament with Roberta Robinette earning all-tournament honors. May began tournament action with a 49-33 win over Iredell as Robinette led the way with 14 points followed by Reese Chambers with 12, Lexi Fox with 10, Hannah McKenzie with six, Melanie Murphree with four and Brianna Steele with three points. The Lady Tigers welcome Ranger at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
