MARBLE FALLS — The Brownwood Lady Lions leveled their overall season record at 7-7 with a 35-32 road victory over the Class 5A Marble Falls Lady Mustangs Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions led 9-6 after one quarter, trailed 17-15 at halftime, and regained a 27-26 edge through three quarters.
“We finally finished a close game with our D,” said Lady Lions head coach Heather Hohertz. “It wasn't pretty but our effort was good and all 10 girls were beneficial in the win.”
Matyha Thompson again led the offensive attack with 24 points trailed by three each from Carol Ann Hetzel, Hadley Monroe and Catrina Fullerlove-Brooks, along with two points from McKenzie Welker.
Brownwood shot 33 percent (15 of 46) from the floor, but just 8 percent (1 of 12) on three-pointers, and knocked down just 28 percent (4 of 14) of its free throws. The Lady Lions also tallied 17 rebounds and five steals while committing 12 turnovers.
The Lady Lions will play their first game at home since Nov. 15 when they welcome San Angelo Central to Warren Gym at 6 p.m. Friday.
