SAN ANGELO — The Brownwood Lions improved to 6-2 on the season with a 70-54 road victory over San Angelo Lake View Tuesday night.

The Lions led 18-8 after one quarter, 43-23 at halftime and 51-38 through three periods.

“We played well for three quarters and built a 28-point lead,” said Lions head coach Nadir Dalleh. “We let them have a little pep rally and gave up some easy baskets. But after three practices you can tell we are improving every game.”

John Wilhelm led the way with 21 points for the Lions while Zach Strong chipped in 20 and Isyah Campos also finished in double figures with 10 points. A.J. McCarty added nine points trailed by Beau Bronniman with five and Drew Huff with three points.

The Lions are back on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday against McGregor to open the Hamilton tournament.
