HAMILTON — The Brownwood Lions put forth perhaps their most complete effort of the season Thursday night, opening the Hamilton tournament with an 85-51 trouncing of the McGregor Bulldogs.
“We finally played to our potential of finishing off plays,” said Lions head coach Nadir Dalleh, whose team improved to 7-2 on the season. “It was a great effort by everyone.”
Brownwood led 18-10 after one quarter, 49-20 at halftime, and 69-32 through three quarters.
Isyah Campos paced the Lion offense with 21 points followed by Zach Strong with 17, Drew Huff with 12, A.J. McCarty with nine, Brandon Hamrick and Beau Bronniman with six apiece, Cooper Swanzy and Asher Choate with four each, and John Wilhelm and Josh Baucom with three points apiece.
The Lions will play twice Friday — at 8:30 a.m. against Llano and again at 8:20 p.m. against Crawford. Brownwood will then compete in either the consolation championship, third-place game or championship game at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. Saturday.
