The Brownwood JV Lions completed a 5-0 run through the Charles Pattillo Division of the TexasBank Holiday Classic as they toppled the Dublin Lions, 73-70, in Saturday afternoon's championship game at the Brownwood Coliseum.
In order to reach the championship game, the JV Lions swept their pool with victories over Coleman (90-77), Fort Worth Country Day (73-41), Comanche (47-37) and Llano (45-30). For the season, the Brownwood JV owns a flawless 17-0 record.
In the finale against Dublin, the Lions led 15-9 after one quarter, 31-23 at halftime and 52-50 through three frames. The lead changed hands multiple times over the final eight minutes before the Lions were able to wrestle away the victory.
Bryson Monroe poured in 22 points to pace the Brownwood offense while Christian Kinzler contributed 20 points. Luke Moss also finished in double figures with 14 points trailed by Jakob Hataway with seven, Bryan Healer and Zach Porter with three apiece and Darrell Williams and Michael Felts with two each.
Jordan Mullin led Dublin (13-5) with 24 points while Angel Ramirez added 21 and Daniel Escobar also finished in double figures with 10 points.
