BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons remained atop the District 6-3A girls basketball standings with their fourth straight league win, 52-29 over the rival Early Lady Horns — who are still seeking their first league victory.

Early (9-13, 0-4) jumped out to a 5-0 lead but Bangs (10-13, 4-0) answered with 13 consecutive points and never looked back. The Lady Dragons were in front 16-8 after one quarter, 28-15 at halftime and 43-26 heading into the fourth.

Trenedi Deal scored 17 points to pace Bangs followed by eight from Kyra Smith.

May Lady Tigers 54, Zephyr Lady Bulldogs 14


ZEPHYR — The May Lady Tigers improved to 14-7 overall and 3-0 in District 18-A action with their 54-14 victory at Zephyr Tuesday night.

Roberta Robinette led May with 19 points followed by Reese Chambers with 17, Brianna Steele with six, Lexi Fox with five, Sophia Lord with three and Korlei King and Melanie Murphree with two points apiece.



Longhorns 53, Dragons 29


BANGS — The Early Longhorns tallied their first District 6-3A victory over the winless Bangs Dragons, 53-29, Tuesday.

Early (8-8, 1-1) coming off a 55-39 home loss to Cisco in the district opener, raced out to a 38-12 halftime lead over Bangs (0-11, 0-2), which was looking to bounce back from a 56-36 defeat at the hands of Comanche. The Longhorns' lead stood at 50-23 through three quarters.

The Longhorns received 10 points from Timmy Smithson, nine each from Nathan Mitchell and Kiah Laborn, seven from Vic Cooper, six apiece from Ethan Mitchell and Brent Grooms, four from Drew Bhatka and three from Bryce Denson.
