COLEMAN — The Early Longhorns secured their third consecutive District 6-3A boys basketball victory with Tuesday night's 75-50 rout of the Coleman Bluecats.

Early (11-9, 3-1) received 26 points from Ethan Mitchell, 17 points from Nathan Mitchell, six each from Brent Grooms and Vic Cooper, five apiece from Kiah Laborn and Bryce Denson, and two points each from Timmy Smithson, Tyson Tyler, Carlos Moreno and Darryn Peters.

Coleman slipped to 5-15 overall and 0-4 in district with the loss.

The Longhorns will venture to Comanche Friday night.


May Lady Tigers 59, Richland Springs 37


RICHLAND SPRINGS — The May Lady Tigers improved to 5-0 in District 18-A action and 16-7 overall with a 59-37 victory at Richland Springs Tuesday.

Reese Chambers and Roberta Robinette led the way for May with 19 and16 points, respectively. Lexi Fox added eight points, Sophie Lord and Brianna Steele tallied five each, Melanie Murphree chipped in four and Korlei King contributed two points.

May wraps up the first half of district Friday at home against Brookesmith, which is also 5-0 in league play.


Cisco 57, Lady Dragons 36


BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons suffered their first District 6-3A setback as their five-game win streak was halted by Cisco, 57-36, Tuesday night.

In a battle of district co-leaders, Bangs (11-14, 5-1) trailed Cisco (18-6, 6-0) by a 12-8 count after one quarter, 28-16 at halftime and 48-23 through three periods.

Trenedi Deal led the Lady Dragons with 15 points followed by Honey Keely with nine and Kyra Smith with seven.

Bangs visits Eastland Friday in the last game of the first half of district action.


Coleman 57, Lady Horns 42


COLEMAN — The Early Lady Horns were denied consecutive District 6-3A victories as they dropped a 57-42 decision at Coleman Tuesday night.

Early (10-14, 1-5) trailed Coleman (6-16, 2-4) by a 20-14 count after one quarter, 31-26 at halftime and 44-35 through three frames.

The Lady Horns received 14 points and five assists from Taylor Summers, 10 points from Tatum Reigle, eight points from Reagan Kirby, four points and seven rebounds from Carrigan Norris, four points and six boards from Dana Lykes and two points from Alexa Portillo.

Early makes the drive to Comanche Friday in the final game of the first half of league play.
