EULA — In their final outing prior to the start of District 7-4A action, the Brownwood Lions were dealt a 62-56 road loss by Class A No. 9 Eula Tuesday night.
Still not at full strength, the Lions (19-5) played the pre-district finale without A.J. McCarty, though Isyah Campos did return to the lineup.
Brownwood led 19-15 after one quarter, trailed 31-30 at halftime and were even with Eula (17-6) at 44 heading to the fourth period.
John Wilhelm finished with 20 points for the Lions followed by 11 from Zach Strong, eight from Brandon Hamrick, six from Beau Bronniman, three each from Cooper Swanzy, Drew Huff and Josh Baucom, and two points from Campos.
“Our shots weren't falling,” said Lions head coach Nadir Dalleh. “We made some mistakes that we haven't been making. We have to get better.”
Dakota Boles led Eula with 19 points and Jayton Jones added 11.
Brownwood is off until Tuesday when the Lions begin defense of their District 7-4A championship at Stephenville. The Lions lost to Stephenville, 57-56, at the Dublin tournament Dec. 6.
