SALADO — Playing their first match since Jan. 4 at the Liberty Hill tournament, the Brownwood Lady Lions opened played at the Salado tournament Thursday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Pleasanton.

Aleyia Cotton recorded both goals for the Lady Lions, as Watt Jones assisted the first and Landry Walker assisted the second.

“The girls played great,” said Lady Lions head coach Andrew Stephenson. “Tarynne Delap saved a PK in the first half which was huge. The girls did everything I asked of them and stuck to the game plan and played hard. The result was exactly what we wanted.”

The Lady Lions (2-2-1) — who had a Jan. 10 date at Gatesville cancelled due to weather — are back in action Friday at 9:40 a.m. against Splendora and at 2:40 p.m. against Bay City.
