The Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team opened District 6-4A action with a 3-0 home victory over Mineral Wells Tuesday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Three different Lady Lions (8-5-1, 1-0) tallied goals as Aleyia Cotton scored on assist from Kennedi Johnson, Johnson scored with the assist to Cotton, and Watts Jones found the net with the aid of a Cotton assist.
“They're really finding their team identity,” said Lady Lions head coach Andrew Stevenson. “This was a great team win. Everyone played their positions and everyone held each other accountable. The things that we've been working on this year are finally coming together and the girls are playing great.”
In District 6-4A boys soccer action Tuesday night at Gordon Wood Stadium, the Lions dropped a 2-0 decision to Mineral Wells as both goals were scored on penalty kicks in the first half.
The Lions are now 1-12 overall and 0-1 in league action.
Brownwood soccer is back in action at 5 p.m. Friday as they visit Stephenville in a District 6-4A doubleheader.
