COPPERAS COVE — The No. 8 Lady Dawgs of Copperas Cove remained undefeated and swept the District 16-4A season series from the Brownwood Lady Lions with Tuesday’s 68-37 victory.

The loss was the third in a row for the Lady Lions (11-15, 1-5) since defeating University, 61-58, on Jan. 12.

Brownwood was held to just two points in the opening quarter and seven for the entire first half.

Copperas Cove (27-0, 6-0) owned a 13-point advantage after one quarter, led by 18 points at halftime and took a 47-22 edge into the final eight minutes.

Ashley Ledlow paced Brownwood with 13 points, Katie Chastain added 10 points and Jensen Knickerbocker chipped in with nine points.

Early 63, Grape Creek 21

GRAPE CREEK — The Early Lady Horns improved to 7-3 in District 6-2A action and 17-9 overall with their 63-21 victory over the Grape Creek Lady Eagles Tuesday.

Early led 15-1 after one quarter, 30-9 at halftime and 46-12 after three periods.

Brittany Wilson led the way with 13 points, followed by 11 from Casey Tyson, eight from Jordan Manning and six points each from Amy Martin and Whitney Holleman.

Also scoring were Bailey Harris with five points, Katelyn Matlock and Sydney Skeen with four points each, and Tresta Donahoo and Charly Conley with three points.

May 53, Blanket 23

MAY — The May Lady Tigers evened their District 16-A, Division II record at 5-5 with Tuesday’s 53-25 home win over Blanket.

May (9-20 overall) opened a 14-8 lead after one quarter, owned a 25-13 halftime lead and took a 35-19 edge into the final eight minutes.

The Lady Tigers received 15 points from Courtney Hallum, 11 from Chelsea Murphree and 10 from Alessa Brown.

Allyse Ballard added six points; Sarah Renfro scored four; three points came from Jessica Henry and Jamee Renfro; and Amy Carter tallied two points each.

Lauran Lofton led Blanket with 11 points, followed by six from Danie Casarez, four from Candace Bundick and two points each from Kerstein King and Kelcey Blanton.

May 65, Blanket 36

MAY — The May Tigers won their seventh District 16-A, Division II game in eight tries, routing rival Blanket, 65-36, here Tuesday night.

May (10-7, 7-1) was up 15-10 after one period, 29-18 at halftime and 51-25 through three quarters.

Nathan Howard scored 26 points to lead May, followed by 12 from Conner Murphree, nine from Cody Brown, six from Cody Jester, five points each from Ryan Smith and Cody Hammond and two points from Matt Pruitt.

Blanket was led by Neil Dove’s 13 points, while Eric Lavy added nine points.
