Lions-Abilene Wylie football tickets currently on sale

Tickets for the Brownwood Lions’ regular season football opener against the Abilene Wylie Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 at Gordon Wood Stadium are now on sale.

Through Thursday, tickets can be purchased at the Brownwood ISD Administration Office at 2707 Southside Dr. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Friday, tickets will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adult tickets cost $6 and tickets for students are $3. All tickets purchased at the gate will cost $6.

Flag football registration starts Thursday

Coggin Ave. Baptist Church will hold registration for its flag football season — open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grade — from Thursday, Aug. 30 through Friday, Sept. 14.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Christian Life Center or the main office of Coggin Ave. Baptist Church during normal business hours. The cost to register is $20.

All games will be played on Saturdays, starting Oct. 5., and the season will last for five weeks.

Little Cheer Camp girls to perform Friday night

Girls who participated in the Little Cheer Camp, hosted by the Brownwood High School cheerleaders, will perform during the first quarter of the Lions’ football game against Abilene Wylie Friday.

Cheer camp members who will be performing are asked to meet at the track at Gordon Wood Stadium at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Soccer for Fun registration continues through Sept. 3

Soccer for Fun registration is now under way and will continue until Thursday, Sept. 3.

The league is open to boys and girls ages 4 through 12 and the fee is $12 per child.

Keffer Kickoff tournament at country club on Sept. 10

Texas Representative Jim Keffer will be hosting the second annual fund-raising Keffer Kickoff Golf Tournament at the Brownwood Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The four-man scramble will feature a 9 a.m. check-in and a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

All teams must pre-register. Individuals are invited to play and will be placed on a team. The field is limited.

Awards will be given for the top three teams. Prizes will be also given for longest drive, straightest drive and the two closest to the pin. Various other prizes will be given with mulligan ticket drawings at the conclusion of the tournament.

Breakfast will be available at check-in and dinner will be served during the awards presentation.

The deadline to report information Sunday through Friday is 10:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

2007 Football Preview in Thursday’s Bulletin

The 2007 Brownwood Bulletin Football Preview will appear in Thursday’s edition of the Bulletin. This year’s section will profile the upcoming seasons of each of the 18 high school and college football programs in our coverage area.

Thursday’s edition will also mark the season debut of “Friday Night Fast Forward” as each local high school football game in Week 0 will be previewed.
