Following a week that started with rain delays and postponements, then ended with teams forcing extra championship games before capturing district titles, the TTA district stage will be turned over to the boys starting Monday.

Four Texas Teen-Age Baseball district tournaments will be held within Brown County, with Bangs and Early hosting one each while the Camp Bowie Sports Complex will be the site of two events.

Only the tournament champion at the district level moves on to state in TTAB, and all state tournaments begin Monday, July 28. In TTAS, both teams that qualified for the district title game advanced to state. Those state tournament begins Monday, July 21.

Six teams will compete in the District 3 Freshman Tight Base tournament at Bangs. The teams in the field are the Bangs Dragons, Bangs Colt 45s, Bronte Rangers, Ballinger Bearcats, Miles Bulldogs and Winters Nitros. The team that emerges from Bangs will take part in the Freshman Tight Base state tournament, which will consist of 11 teams, at Eastland.

Early City Park will serve as host for the four-team District 2 Freshman Open Base tournament. Comprising the field will be the Early Phillies, Early Rangers, Brownwood Rangers and Brownwood Twins. The champion of the tournament will compete in the 14-team state tournament in New Boston.

Amongst the teams competing in the seven-team District 2 Senior Midgets tournament at Camp Bowie will be the Brownwood Cardinals, Brownwood Dawgs, Early Cardinals, Early Braves and San Saba Rangers. The district champion will head to Killeen for the 14-team state tournament.

The eight-team District 3 Junior Boys tournament, also taking place at Camp Bowie, will feature the Brownwood White Sox, Brownwood Rangers, Brownwood A’s, Early Purple, Goldthwaite Gold, Llano Jackets, Mason Wranglers and a team from De Leon. The last team standing will journey to Athens for the 10-team state tournament.

Coaches meetings, which determine the brackets in the district tournaments, will take place today. The TTAB schedule for the week will appear in Monday’s edition of the Bulletin.

On Thursday, the TTAS High School Eligible tournament returns to Camp Bowie for the second year in a row. A yet to be determined number of teams will compete in the four-day event. Further information on that tournament will appear later this week in the Bulletin.

The 10-team TTAB Junior Midgets state tournament begins at Camp Bowie on Monday, July 28, and the Brownwood Astros and Brownwood Cardinals are two of the teams that will help make up the field. The rest of the field will be determined this week in district tournament action throughout the state.
