A fire completely destroyed a couple's home, near the Eureka Cemetery on County Road 327, Saturday morning.

According to Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston, the fire appears to have started by an ember from a smoker. The couple had left the home, at around 9:30 a.m., and the ember apparently ignited dry grass and leaves near a deck attached to the double-wide mobile home.

No person was injured, but the couple did lose their dog that was inside the home at the time of the fire.

Blanket and Early Volunteer Firefighters responded to the call and Red Cross volunteers arrived to assist the couple with essentials.
