BHS earns first at One-Act zone competition

BALLINGER– Ballinger High School claimed first place in the Zone competition held in Ballinger, March 22. Brylee Matschek was awarded Best Actress. Others receiving All Star Cast honors were Luke Carter, Jordan Frierson, Daniel King, and Sydney Dankworth.

“All the members of the cast and crew deserve the gold medals. They performed with energy and perfection. I was proud of them,” commented director, Sherran Geistmann.

Ballinger High School performed Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid, adaptation by Milles Malleson.

The scenes performed are by special arrangement from Samuel French.

The cast includes: Luke Carter, Argan; Brylee Matschek, Toinette; Sydney Dankworth, Angelica; Jordan Frierson, Beline; Beau Sizemore, Bonnefoy; Zakk Ottmers, Cleante; James Rouse, Dr. Diaforus; Thomas Luna, Dr. Thomas Diaforus; Kaleigh Schniers, Louise; Daniel King, Beralde; Jack Buxkemper, Apothecary; Rian Jones, Dr. Purgon. Crew includes: Amber Galvan, Shalyn Odom, Sarah Wright, Jennifer Castleberry, and McKenzie Arrott. Alternates include: Bailey Dunn, Sean Schaefer, Jayden Hughes, and Hayley McDowell.

The performance for the district competition will be held in Coleman Saturday, March 29. Ballinger performs at 1 p.m. followed by Bangs, Grape Creek, and Wall.

There will not be an admission charge. The doors will be locked when performances begin, so be early to secure your seat in the auditorium.
