Heartland Rod Run returns Friday, Saturday

The annual Heartland Rod Run will take place Saturday at Riverside Park beginning at 8 a.m. Admission is free.

One of Brown County’s summer staples takes place this weekend as Heartland Cruisers hosts its annual Heartland Rod Run.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday with the Poker Run at Early City Hall. The Poker Run follows the general concept of poker as entrants cruise through town collecting cards at different locations to make up a hand. The best hand wins the event.

The cost to enter is $5 per hand. Competitors will receive a free Brown Bag Special from Sonic and all proceeds benefit a local charity.

The highlight of the weekend is the car show, which takes place Saturday at Riverside Park.

Registration, which is free, begins at 8 a.m.. The car show, which is also free, starts at 10 a.m. Along with the numerous automobiles on display, the car show will feature games for adults and kids, as well as food, vendors and door prizes awarded to registered entries.

The Burn Out Contest will also occur for a $10 entry fee. First place will be awarded $100, while the runner-up will receive $50.

Other events include the Mobile DYNO trailer and the Panty Dash.

Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. and include Best of Show, which receives $500; Best GM, Best Ford, Best MOPAR, Best Import and Best Bike, all of which receive $250.
