Friday rollover in Mississippi claims life of Brownwood man

Howard Lee Adams, 23, of Brownwood, died following a one-vehicle rollover near Meridian, Miss. Friday morning.

The wreck occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday near the 164-mile marker on Interstate 20, according to the Meridian Star website. Another male, one female and two children suffered various injuries during the accident and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

The Meridian Star reported that Adams, a native of Alabama, was ejected from the 2001 Ford SUV he was driving after it left the roadway. Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler told the Meridian Star that Adams died of a massive head injury and was killed on impact.

Officials at the scene said Adams was not wearing a seatbelt, while the other passengers in the vehicle were. A cause of the wreck was unknown.
