BALLINGER– The Ballinger Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to hire Larry Taylor as Interim Superintendent. Taylor will be substituting Will Brewer who will be leaving Ballinger ISD this summer. Monday night, at a called meeting, the School Board met in executive session at 4:30 p.m. to conduct an interview with the candidate.

“Taylor lives in San Angelo, and has a long history in school administration as interim superintendent in a number of places,” said Ballinger ISD Board President Mike Riley. Taylor will be taking over on August 1, 2014.

Will Brewer’s last day as Ballinger ISD Superintendent will be July 31, 2014. He was in office since May of 2010.

Riley said he’s got a good feeling about the interim superintendent, who is expected to stay until the end of the year. The position, he said, will be posted in November, and the a new superintendent is expected to start by January of 2015.

“I think he is good, we are familiar with Mr. Taylor, he worked with the (ESC Region 15) Service Center, he’s got a good reputation, he’ll make a good fit and he knows Ballinger,” Riley said.

As a Service Center field representative Taylor worked in finance and budget training with Ballinger ISD.

“We hate to loose Mr. Brewer, he is making a personal family choice, he’s got priorities and he is very commended to his family,” Riley said.
