Dazzling Divas celebrates 4th birthday, deals through Saturday
Brittany Cooley remembers vividly of the time she started making designs of her fashion store when she was in the first grade. She named it Britt’s Boutique.
Nearly two decades later, the 27-year-old has made her dream a reality, with her vivacious fashion store, Dazzling Divas, serving as one of the more popular boutiques in Brownwood, and it celebrated its fourth “birthday” Wednesday.
“I just remember being in art class and drawing little store (designs) of it,” Cooley recalls.
Dazzling Divas offers trendy women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. Through Saturday, the store is having buy one get one 50 percent off on items, with wine tasting availability on Friday from 5 – 7 p.m.
For one of her courses at Hardin-Simmons University, from where she graduated with degrees in marketing and management in 2008, Cooley had to plan and design a business, and her future boutique became the focus of the assignment. So how’d she do?
“I got an A,” Cooley said with a laugh.
Brittney Everett, who has been a store employee at Dazzling Divas since January, said her favorite thing about working at the store is the satisfaction she receives from customers when they exit the store after first being uncertain on what they’re looking for.
“Sometimes (the customers) will come in and worry that something may not fit, but after working with them and helping them find what they need, I (really) like it when they leave with a smile,” said 19-year-old Everett, who is currently enrolled in online courses at Texas Tech University.
Cooley first opened up her store in the Heartland Mall in 2011, and she said that since last year’s relocation to 1601 Coggin Ave., revenue has increased.
“It sure helps because we’re right next to a salon,” said Cooley, referring to the neighboring Rage Salon, adjacent to the Dazzling Divas.
“Business has definitely grown since the move over here. In the future, I’d like to expand our online (presence) and open up multiple locations around the country.”
