A Brown County jailer went to the hospital early Tuesday morning after a man who’d just been arrested on an assault charge allegedly pushed the jailer into a brick wall, causing the jailer’s head to hit the wall, sheriff’s officials said.

Brownwood police arrested Randall Frink, 37, of Brownwood, on an assault family violence with previous conviction charge Monday night, Brown County Jail records state. Frink was later charged with assault on a public servant and terroristic threat against a public servant, jail records state.

According to reports released by Brownwood police and the sheriff’s office:

Police were dispatched at 11 p.m. Monday to the 1400 block of Avenue E, where a woman alleged Frink had struck her in the face multiple times. An officer spoke with Frink, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated and could not tell what had occurred.

A woman in a different room told police she heard Frink yell at the other woman, then heard a thud a what sounded like choking sounds.

At the jail, correction officer Blake Sheedy was attempting to transfer Frink, who was described in a report as aggressive and belligerent, from a holding cell to a safety isolation cell. Sheedy asked Frink, who has a history of attempted suicide while in custody, if he was suicidal.

Frink allegedly said he wanted to kill Sheedy and another jailer and then kill himself. As Sheedy transferred Frink to a padded cell, Frink allegedly became combative with jail staff, and Sheedy drive-stunned Frink with a Taser. Frink allegedly shoved Sheedy into the corner of a brick wall.

Lifeguard EMS transported Sheedy to Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Sheedy will miss a couple of days of work because of the injury, Chief Deputy Vance Hill said.

Others booked into the Brown County Jail between 8 a.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday were:

Tiffany Kite, 32, Fort Worth, bail jumping, motion to adjudicate for possession of a controlled substance.

Gabriel Martinez, 21, Brownwood, DWI second.

Michael Pearson, 41, Austin, failure to appear for possession of marijuana.
