EARLY — Kurt Newton, Brownwood are representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is continuing his plan to present FCA All-Star athletes with jerseys and plaques.

The FCA All-Star games, normally played in June, were cancelled because of COVID.

FCA board member Rick Evans presented four Early FCA All-Stars with jerseys and plaques Monday afternoon.

The athletes were Cale Wade, Timothy Smithson, Brent Groom and Trinity Tomlinson.

Evans also presented plaques to cheer coaches Faith Wade and Kristin Wade.

Evans told the athletes he was sorry they didn’t get to play in an All-Star game.

“But you need to remember you’re still all-stars, and you were selected for a reason,” Evans said. “And you’re the cream of the crop, but remember wherever you go, whatever you do, stay involved with FCA.”

Evans said his son had played in the first FCA All-Star game in the area.

“He still has friends from that,” Evans said. “But you all can reach out to each other that you know around the community.”

Newton has presented plaques and jerseys to FCA All-Star athletes from Brownwood, Cross Plains, Brookesmith, Brady, Mason, San Saba and Goldthwaite. He plans to present plaques to athletes from Bangs, Comanche, DeLeon and Blanket next week.
