John Snider of Center Elected Chairman of the Texas Bankers Association

AUSTIN, May 29, 2014 – John Snider, vice chairman and CEO of Shelby Savings Bank, SSB in Center, has been elected chairman of the Texas Bankers Association for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year. His term runs from June 1, through May 31, 2015.

Snider, a graduate of Howard Payne University, began his banking career in Brownwood at Southern Savings and Loan Association, where he worked from 1970 through 1986, eventually becoming president and chief operating officer. Between 1986 and 1990, he was president and CEO of Sabine Valley Savings and Loan Association. He joined Shelby Savings Bank, SSB in 1990. He is also vice chairman and CEO of the holding company, Shelby Bancshares Inc.

Snider has been very active in the Texas Bankers Association. He has served on the Board of Directors, Government Relations Council and Executive Committee. He was also a member and chairman of the Texas Finance Commission.

Serving Texas bankers since 1885, TBA is the largest and oldest state bankers association in the nation.
