Chad Musgrove is the Tech Room Manager and has been with Apollo Computers, Inc. for a little longer than a year. Apollo Computers and Bertrand Technology Solutions merged at the beginning of the year, combining talents and resources to better serve their home user and business clientele.

Prior to January, Paul Smithson and Apollo Computers primarily served home computer users, and Ray Bertrand and Bertrand Technology Solutions chiefly the business computer and networking environment. Each was successful in their areas of expertise, Smithson opening his own business in 2005 and Bertrand in 2002. Additionally, Bertrand has been working in the Information Technology field since his graduation from HPU in 1989, preceded by four years in the U.S. Air Force, working with electronics.

As of January 1, the pair combined talents and resources to form a single company.

"Both of us have strengths in different areas and it creates a synergy," Smithson said, "We're more well rounded now."

Along with their expertise in the field, both companies have always focused on providing excellent customer service.

"I tell my customers that if they are talking to Paul, they are talking to me and the same goes for him," Bertrand said, "We have the same mindset toward customer service."

Smithson added, "We try to provide the best service at the best price and the best customer service we can."

The merger brings the customers more options and competitive pricing, particularly with purchases of Dell products, which they buy directly. Bertrand said they exceed one-half million dollars per year, giving them the buying leverage needed to provide competitive pricing. The company is the only Apple Authorized Service center within 120 miles, providing service and warranty repairs on all Apple products, including Mac desktops, Macbook notebooks, iPhones, and iPads. They also service many brands of smartphones and tablets.

Service and equipment is provided for the home user to enterprising level networking. For both home and business, Apollo Computers, Inc. provides in-store and on-site service and repair.

"We provide managed services for business, from a one computer shop to those with multiple locations," Bertrand said. He noted an existing customer has seven locations.

They have customers in the healthcare and banking fields, and subject their employees to background checks necessary to qualify for government contracts, including local law enforcement agencies.

Bertrand said they provide networking products that greatly enhance security for businesses, including off-site data backup. They have available systems that permit remote and continuous monitoring for potential problems, reducing computer and network downtime.

All of their services are offered from the Early location, at 611 Early Blvd., as well as their Abilene location, located at 704 N. 6th St. Between the two, Apollo employs 13.
