Two indicted on unrelated weapons offenses

Two Brownwood men have been indicted on unrelated allegations of weapons offenses including an assault involving a box cutter.

The February session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned a two-count indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against David Ray Bishop, 32, according to information from District Attorney Micheal Murray's office.

Brownwood police responded to the1100 block of Magnolia the night of Dec. 27 on a report of a loud disturbance, earlier police reports state. The initial caller reported hearing someone yelling "you cut my face."

Officers arrived to find that two men had been cut by a razor blade. One of the men said they were assaulted after they confronted another man over money stolen in an earlier drug transaction.

One of the men who was cut refused transport to Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Guardian EMS took the other man to the emergency room, where he received stitches and super glue to close his laceration.

Bishop told police the two men had assaulted him and said he had retrieved a knife to defend himself.  

Grand jurors returned an indictment for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon against Chad Michael Norman, 29.

A deputy made a traffic stop on Aug. 3, and the driver, identified as Norman, said he didn't have a driver's license because it was suspended.

The deputy saw a magazine from a handgun in a child safety seat in the passenger's side seat, and asked the man if a handgun was in the pickup. The man said gun was behind the passenger's seat, and the deputy located a 9 mm handgun.

Dispatch confirmed that Norman's driver's license was not eligible due to for previous convictions of driving with an invalid license. Marsh asked dispatch to run a "43" and Marsh learned the man had a conviction for burglary of a building.

Joshua Caperton, possession of a controlled substance.

Ashley Monique Montemayor Pruett, possession of a controlled substance.

Kevin Sliger, possession of a controlled substance — drug free zone, evidence tampering, evading arrest.

Lekurt Kwame Fisher, aggravated assault with deadly weapon.

Michael Stormmel Young, aggravated assault with deadly weapon.

Jefferey Paul Lynn, possession of a controlled substance — drug free zone.

Charles Thomas Mason, forgery.

Jesse Michael Coppic, forgery.

Daniel Stephen Priester, burglary of a habitation.

Bridget Gonzales, assault against public servant (four counts).
