Crime report

A nude male walking along a highway and a drunken man getting beaten up for "messing with" another man's wife were among recent incidents involving local law enforcement agencies.

Deputies responded to the area of U.S. Highway 183 North and County Road 494 Wednesday on a report of the nude male. Deputies arrested the male, who would identify himself only as David, on charges of disorderly conduct and failure to identify.

In an unrelated incident, Brownwood police responded at 6:18 Wednesday to the 7-Eleven store at 3801 Fourth on a report that a man entered the store covered in blood. The man left in a car before officers arrived, but a witness was able to provide a description of the car and license plate, and the first name of the injured man.

At 7:30 a.m., police saw the car parked outside a home in the 1300 block of Phillips. A woman allowed an officer inside, and two men emerged from the back of the home. Police learned that one of the men had beaten up the other one. The assailant had seen the other man, who is 74 years old, "messing" with the assailant's wife after an evening of sitting around and drinking alcoholic beverages.

The assailant told police the man should be in a nursing home but refuses to go there because he wouldn't be allowed to drink. The victim said he did not need medical attention and did not want to press charges.

In other incidents:

• Brownwood police investigated vehicle burglaries Wednesday in the 2400 block of Elizabeth and the 200 block of West Anderson.

• Police were dispatched early Thursday morning to the 1500 block of Davis Lane on an assault call. Police arrested Schuyler Williams, 27, on charges of assault and possession of marijuana.
