A 3:30 a.m. traffic stop Thursday in Early led to the arrests of a Brownwood man and two Brownwood juveniles on drug charges.

Early officer Jose Contreras arrested Justin Barnhill, 22, and the two juveniles on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Early police said.

Contreras stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Gorman Drive and identified the driver as Barnhill. Contreras also identified the two 16-year-old juveniles, who were unrelated to Barnhill.

Officers located several items of drug paraphernalia, a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana and hydrocodone pills in the vehicle, police said. Officers learned that some drugs may have been dumped into a soft drink in the vehicle.

The investigation will continue pending lab results on the soft drink and several items in the vehicle.

In unrelated incidents:

• Early officer Stephanie Brown, investigating a report of a stolen vehicle, made a traffic stop at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Early Boulevard and questioned the driver, identified as Amber Head.

Head, 33 of Early, was arrested on a charge of driving with an invalid license. Brown continued an investigation into the stolen vehicle report and inventoried the vehicle, finding drug paraphernalia.

Officers learned there were more drugs at a residence and went to the home in the 200 block of Hillcrest, where they located more methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

Head was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. The stolen vehicle investigation continues.

• Deputy Jim Cornelius took a report from the Texas Commission Environmental Quality office in Abilene.
