GRAHAM — Facing former — and future — district rival Abilene Wylie for the second time in less than a week, the Brownwood Lady Lions were unable to pull off a sweep as they dropped an 11-10 decision Saturday at the Tri-County tournament.

The Lady Lions were supposed to face Iowa Park as well Saturday, but that game was forfeited in Brownwood’s favor. With one game remaining — at Venus at 5 p.m. Tuesday — prior to the start of District 8-3A softball action, the Lady Lions stand at 11-4 on the season.

In the loss to Wylie, Ashley Gomez finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, Kayla McFarden went 3-for-4 with a triple and one RBI, Kristen Fuentes was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Alyson Finnigan added a 2-for-3 effort that featured a double and an RBI.

In the circle, Gomez surrendered 13 hits and five earned runs with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Lady Lions defeated Wylie, 10-0, in six innings this past Tuesday as Finnigan tossed a one-hitter.
