Condensed Lions, Lady Lions squads earn five top threes at Graham track meet

GRAHAM — A condensed version of the Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions track and field teams competed at the rain-shortened Possum Kingdom Relays in Graham this past Saturday.
The Lady Lions turned in three medal worthy performance, while the Lions chipped in a pair.
Victoria Henry won both the girls shot put (37-2) and the discus (112-3), while Sharday Melvin came in third in the girls 300-meter hurdles (49.52). For the boys, third-place efforts belonged to Matthew Gomez (13-6) in the pole vault and Connor Howard (20-6.5) in the long jump.
Melvin also finished fourth in the triple jump (32-5) for the Lady Lions, while Alexis Larrea was sixth in the discus (87-4).
McLane Moore placed seventh in the pole vault (10-6) for the Lions, while Howard was eighth in the 300-meter hurdles (44.6) and Tanner Crow was eighth in the 3200 meters (11:41.81).
The Lions and Lady Lions are slated to be back in action Friday and Saturday at the McMurry Invitational in Abilene.
