Lions, Lady Lions soccer to both face China Spring in postseason openers

The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions, who both finished second in the District 34-4A soccer standings, will open postseason play against the China Spring Cougars and Lady Cougars, both of which placed third in District 33-4A.

A time, date and location for the bi-district battles had not been set as of Wednesday. According to the UIL website, opening-round games must be completed by Tuesday. The Brownwood coaches are hoping to set up Tuesday games, opposed to playing on Monday.

The Lady Lions (13-5-2), under first-year head coach Keith Robinson, have reeled off three straight victories heading into the postseason.

The Brownwood girls are hoping to exceed last year’s run to the third round of the playoffs, which is the best in program history.

The Lions (12-6-2), under the guidance of first-year head coach Blake Danaher, have also racked up three consecutive victories heading into the playoffs.

The Brownwood boys are looking to erase the memories of last year’s first-round upset against Mexia.

China Spring competed in District 33-4A along with Waco La Vega, Waco University, Waco Connally and Waco High.
