Bangs, Early collect four district victories on diamond

BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons moved to 8-0 in District 6-2A softball action and 14-2-1 overall with a 20-5 victory over Grape Creek Friday.

Bangs, which finished with 25 hits, tallied nine runs in the first inning and added seven in the second.

Every Lady Dragon that batted recorded at least two hits, and Bangs amassed six extra-base hits.

Sarah Garcia finished with four hits, including a home run, and five RBIs, while Kady Kyle also chipped in four hits. Jaylee Roberts contributed three hits and three RBIs, while Haley Pitts and Mercedes Hinze added three hits and two RBIs each. Kassidy Adams doubled twice and drove in five RBIs, while Courtney Owen added two hits and two RBIs, Raelee Francois finished with two hits and one RBI and Maddie Browning doubled as part of her two-hit performance.

Savanna Rosenbush pitched all five innings for Bangs, allowing one earned run on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

The Lady Dragons defense committed four errors.

Lady Horns 14, Brady 4

EARLY — The Early Lady Horns moved to 7-1 in District 6-2A softball action and 14-7 overall with a 14-4 victory over Brady Friday.

Samantha Hernandez, Ramsie Rodgers and Kassidy Allen recorded two hits apiece, while Allen notched the victory in the circle for the Lady Horns.

Longhorns 17, Brady 4

EARLY — The Early Longhorns tallied nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 17-4 District 6-2A baseball win over Brady Friday.

Early (12-3-1, 6-1) finished with a dozen hits and also scored four runs each in the first and second innings.

J.W. Ledbetter finished with three hits, including a home run, and drove in six RBIs, while Tres Underwood added three hits and a pair of RBIs.

Kellan Jackson recorded two hits and two RBIs, Abel Hernandez notched one hit and a pair of RBIs and Jared Crouch and Stephen Hlis contributed one hit and one RBI each.

On the mound, Jackson tossed all five innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Dragons 10, Grape Creek 0

BANGS — Brayden James tossed a no-hitter as the Bangs Dragons improved to 8-8 overall and 4-3 in District 6-2A baseball action with a 10-0 win over Grape Creek Friday.

James struck out five and walked one, while the Dragon defense committed two errors.

Offensively, the Dragons scored five runs in the first inning, two in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Tanner Shaw and Brady Glover both homered for the Dragons and finished with two RBIs. Chuy Alvarado chipped in two hits and a pair of RBIs, while Chane Burton finished with one hit and an RBI.
