EARLY — Four members of the District 6-2A softball co-champion Early Lady Horns earned academic all-state honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Lady Horns qualifying for the Class 2A squad were Kassidy Allen, Aspen Escamilla, Samantha Hernandez and Kyra Meader. The Early foursome comprised 4.4 percent of the 90 players who earned accolades.

The Texas Girls Coaches Association selects academic all-state teams in softball in conferences A-5A. Athletes must be seniors, must have a GPA of 94 or above, and must be a team member in good standing. Athletes are nominated by their member coaches. The head varsity coach must be a member of TGCA to be eligible to nominate athletes for honors.

Early finished the season 23-10 and posted a 13-1 district record en route to the area round of the playoffs under first-year head coach Alfonso Chavez.
