San Elizario ends Lions soccer's playoff run in second round, 6-1

MIDLAND — The Brownwood Lions’ postseason run reached its conclusion in the area round of the Region I-4A boys soccer playoffs as San Elizario rolled to a 6-1 victory Friday night at Midland Grande Communications Stadium.

The Lions (12-9-2) bowed out of the playoffs in the second round for the second straight year under coach Blake Danaher.

Brownwood fell in a 4-0 hole during the first half and trailed 5-0 before finally lighting up the scoreboard.

Phillip Le Corre accounted for the lone Lions’ goal, scoring with 14:55 remaining in the contest.

San Elizario jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 18:57 left in the first half, then tacked on goals with 12, eight and two minutes remaining before intermission.

In the second half, San Elizario scored eight minutes in and with 11 minutes left.
