Six entries headed to regionals as Horns, Lady Horns earn district tennis titles

EARLY — The Early High School tennis team earned six regional berths, and the Longhorns and Lady Horns captured team district championships, as the 7-3A tournament wrapped up Monday on Early’s home courts.

Advancing to the Region I-3A tournament at Rose Park in Abilene as district champions are Kwade Boyd in boys singles, Sahib King and Steve Cornelio in boys doubles and Inayat King and Jaden Satterlee in girls doubles.

Competing in the April 20-21 regional tournament as 7-3A second seeds are Austin Carlisle in boys singles, Amanda Harris in girls singles and Cody Luttrell and Kaitlynn Mitchell in mixed doubles.

Early’s Steven Armstrong and Tyler Kirkland placed third in boys doubles, Tristan Renfroe and Crystal Ochoa came in fourth in girls doubles and Josh Graves and Tomera Dickey won the consolation title in mixed doubles.

In JV action, the Longhorns claimed the district title while the Lady Horns finished as runners-up.

Winning their respective draws were Isaac Club and David Wiley in boys doubles and Hayden Turner and Hallie Brinson in mixed doubles, while Brandon Newman and Brett Shaw came in second in boys doubles.

Brennan Hawkins finished third in boys singles, while fourth-place efforts belonged to Wade Carter in boys singles and Marina Salinas and Brilee Tabor in girls doubles.
