EARLY — The Early Lady Horns chalked up their second straight District 7-3A softball victory Friday, posting a 6-2 home win over Coleman.

MaKayla DeLeon tossed a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks, while the Lady Horns (10-7, 3-2) collected 11 hits led by three apiece from Ramsie Rodgers and Andee Jo Rose.

Trailing 1-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning, Early struck for five runs.

The fifth began with a Parker Smith triple on the first pitch, then Rodgers reached on an infield hit. A dropped strike allowed Lily Reagan to get on board, and Smith came home on the play to even the score. Rose then laid down a squeeze bunt that plated Rodgers with the go-ahead run.

Shaunna Pinson later reached on an error that scored Jacey Sparks, running for Rose, to extend the lead to 3-1. Makaila Judkins then delivered a two-RBI double that scored Beale Madison Gordon, who reached on a bunt single, and Pinson.

Early tacked on another run in the sixth as Reagan tripled and scored on an RBI single by Rose.

Coleman scored its runs in the fourth and seventh innings.

The Lady Horns will visit Class 4A Stephenville at 5 p.m. Tuesday in non-district action.
