7-3A BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Bangs posts pair of shutouts, Early drops non-district games
COLEMAN — Chance Beck hurled a two-hit shutout as the Bangs Dragons collected their second District 7-3A baseball victory Tuesday, 6-0 over Coleman.
The Dragons (7-10-1, 2-4) scored four runs in the second inning and added two more in the top of the sixth.
Bangs finished with eight hits — two each by David Wells and Chane Burton and one apiece from Mason Reichenau, Colton Brewer, Payton Hamrick and Beck.
Wells’ two RBIs served as a team-high while Reichenau, Hamrick and Brayden James contributed one each.
Beck faced 30 batters, striking out two and walking a pair.
The Dragons host Early at 7 p.m. Friday.
Cisco 4, Early 1
CISCO — The Early Longhorns’ four-game win streak was halted by Cisco, 4-1, in non-district baseball action Tuesday afternoon.
The Longhorns’ (12-5, 5-0) last loss also came at the hands of Cisco, 6-4, on March 27.
In Tuesday’s setback, the Longhorns scored in the top of the first, but could not push another run across the plate despite tallying seven hits.
Cisco, meanwhile, generated four runs despite mustering only one hit as the Longhorns committed four errors and issued six walks.
Grant Fanara led the Longhorns with three hits followed by Nick Alcorta with two and one apiece from Christopher Johnston and Abel Hernandez.
On the mound for the Longhorns, Cody Jones worked 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on one hit with eight strikeouts and five walks. Cojo Guidry recorded the final out, but also allowed a run.
